What is TD SYNNEX Coaches?

TD SYNNEX Coaches is the tool supporting the new Beacon Buddies self-service experience.

Coaches is an award winning (2020 ChannelPro SMB All-Star) in-house built micro platform (legacy Tech Data Coaches) designed to inspire connections between individuals and 150+ TD SYNNEX Coaches and subject matter experts across a wide range of domains. Users of TD SYNNEX Coaches span individuals who are TD SYNNEX co-workers, supplier partners, and IT Solution Providers.

What is Beacon?

Beacon is TD SYNNEX’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Business Resource Group (BRG) dedicated to supporting the recruitment, retention, enablement, and advancement of black people at TD SYNNEX. Beacon will also act as a change agent, to foster inclusiveness and meaningful interactions between all levels of TD SYNNEX’S co-workers, the industry, and the community.

What is Beacon Buddies?

Beacon Buddies is a program designed to provide coaching, networking, relationship building, and sponsorship. The mission of Beacon Buddies is to create a valuable, long-lasting relationship between you and your co-workers that will enlighten, develop, and nourish you personally and professionally. We aim to provide you with the necessary tools while creating an environment that makes make you comfortable and successful in all your endeavors.

Beacon Buddies is open to all co-workers!

How do I sign up for Beacon Buddies?

If you are interested in learning more about other areas of the business, advancing your career, work-life balance, or any other topic, register here as a Beacon Apprentice.

If you are interested in supporting your co-workers by offering guidance, advocacy, or insights, register here as a Beacon Buddy.

Can I be both an Apprentice and Buddy at the same time?

Yes, you can register by using 2 different email accounts. Be sure to use a different company email address than you did for your original Coaches account.

For example, if you are already registered as a coach using your @techdata.com email address, you can use your new @tdsynnex.com email address to register for a new account as a co-worker.

What are the expectations of an Apprentice?

As an Apprentice, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines:

1. Provide all relevant information (background, education, interests, role, goals, etc).
2. Be intentional about what you would like to receive (coaching, mentoring, etc).
3. Schedule and be prepared for all Buddy meetings and conversations.
4. Proactive and regular engagement (at least twice per quarter with your Buddy).
5. Attend the regularly scheduled All Beacon Buddies Check-Ins.

What happens after I register for an account?

Apprentices will receive a confirmation email to change your password and complete the registration process with which you can then use to Login to your new account. Once you have completed your co-worker Profile you will see at least 4 of your Buddy matches displayed on your Dashboard and you can start connecting immediately!

For a Buddy, the process is the same except you will need to complete your coach Profile and check to make sure you have enabled meeting requests on your Dashboard so your Apprentice matches can begin connecting with you immediately.

Please note that if all the required sections are not fully completed, your profile may be hidden or deleted from the Coaches database.

How do I find a Buddy (Coach)?

Once you have completed your Profile, you will see at least 4 of your new Buddy (Coach) matches on your profile Dashboard and should begin by clicking View Profile of any that you are interested in connecting with right away.

Use any of the connection options on the coach’s profile page to introduce yourselfask questions, or request meetings. You can also find links to their LinkedIn profiles, email addresses, and more!

How often should we meet?

Meeting with your Beacon Buddies match is meant to be flexible. We recommend you meet monthly or at least twice per quarter.

Can I meet with more than one Buddy simultaneously?

Yes, you can meet with as many as you like!

I registered as a Buddy. How do I get started with my Apprentice matches?

As a Buddy, once you have set up your profile you are all set. You will receive inquiries from Apprentices directly to your TD SYNNEX email. At this point, it is up to you and your Apprentice match to continue your correspondence outside of the platform (via email, Teams, phone, etc).

Please ensure to respond quickly to your matches within 1-3 business days. These initial connection emails will come from the TD SYNNEX Coaches email address Coaches@tdsynnex.com, including the context of the message from the participant and their contact information. Follow the prompt to “Send a Reply” to respond to your match directly.

What are the expectations of a Buddy?

A Buddy is expected to abide by these commitment terms:

1. Have 1+ year tenure at TD SYNNEX.
2. Have the experience and desire to coach, mentor, or sponsor.
3. Be accessible with time and communication.
4. Be present and show up to your engagements.
5. Proactive and regular engagement (at least twice per quarter with your Apprentice).
6. Attend the regularly scheduled All Beacon Buddies Check-Ins.

I’m already registered as an Advocacy Coach through E3 by Elevate. How can I sign up to be a Buddy through Beacon?

You’re already registered as a coach in TD SYNNEX Coaches so no need to sign up again! All you have to do is edit your Profile to indicate that you are also a Buddy and update your details accordingly.

I’m concerned about my capacity for connection requests. How can I limit the requests I get?

On your TD SYNNEX Coaches Dashboard, there are a few features provided to help users send connection requests that meet your needs and expectations including:

  • Add a message to the top of your profile with details on your availability. Encourage users to request meeting times that fit with your schedule (For example, “3:00 PM EST and 3:30 PM EST on Mondays and Fridays work well for me”).
  • You can turn off your openness to meetings. For example, all coach profiles suggest a few options to make a connection (all of which send notifications directly to your email where your connection will be copied on the email with a link to their private user profile). These include asking a question, sending a message, and requesting a meeting. If you are at capacity for meeting requests your dashboard includes a toggle to hide your meeting availability and only allow users to connect with you via the other means.
  • You can request to temporarily hide your profile altogether. Should you need to hide your profile for a period of time due to bandwidth, for vacation, or leave, you can send a request to Coaches@tdsynnex.com to hide your profile temporarily.
Who can see my profile?

As a Buddy, you are automatically considered a TD SYNNEX Coach (the platform which supports the Beacon Buddies program) and your profile is listed within the TD SYNNEX Coaches master database.

For context, TD SYNNEX Coaches is a master database of 150+ Coaches across TD SYNNEX and key ecosystem partners (like suppliers) as a subject matter expert in the attributes and superpowers you choose to display on your profile. This means your profile is visible to all of the platform’s users, including Apprentices, co-workers (not affiliated with Beacon), and co-workers that belong to our IT Solution Providers customers.

I am a member of Beacon but interested in matching with coaches affiliated with other TD SYNNEX Business Resource Groups. How can I find coaches affiliated with Elevate, Fuerza, Patriots, Rise, or Spectrum?

Simply select Search & Browse from your Dashboard, then use the filter to select the BRG or Mentorship Program you are interested in. As long as a coach has added any of those options to their profiles, they will show up in your search and it will also appear on each coach’s profile.
